The Client

Verito is a managed cloud hosting and IT services company built specifically for the accounting and tax industry. Their core product: hosting software like QuickBooks, Drake, UltraTax, ProSeries, and Sage on secure cloud infrastructure so CPA firms and tax professionals can work remotely without managing their own servers or IT.

It is a genuine niche. The buyers are small to mid-size accounting firms. The language is specific. The trust bar is high because these firms handle sensitive financial data for their clients. And the competitive landscape is crowded with legacy players who have had years of head start.

That specificity is exactly what made the organic and AI search opportunity so large, and so under-utilized.

The Problem: Half a Million Impressions. Zero Page-One Rankings Where It Counted.

When DerivateX began working with Verito in May 2025, the Google Search Console data told a clear story.

Nearly every person finding Verito through Google was someone who already knew the name. The people searching for solutions (actively evaluating QuickBooks hosting providers or looking for managed IT services for their accounting firm) were not finding Verito at all.

The gap between demand and visibility was stark:

  • /quickbooks-hosting was accumulating 222,000 impressions per month at position 27. That is 222,000 times per month that accounting professionals searched for what Verito sells, and Verito was not in the answer.
  • /managed-backup-services had 332,000 monthly impressions at position 42. Buried on page four or five. Functionally invisible.

Combined, those two pages alone represented over 550,000 monthly impressions of trapped demand. The search intent was there. The buyers were there. Verito just was not showing up.

The search volume existed. The authority to compete for it did not.

Three things were missing:

  1. Topical depth: not enough content to signal authority across the accounting software hosting cluster
  2. Off-page credibility: minimal backlinks from sources relevant to the niche
  3. AI visibility: zero presence in the AI-generated answers that buyers were increasingly using to start their research

“Finding an SEO partner who understands niche B2B is hard.” โ€” Camren Majors, Co-Founder and CMO, Verito

The Engagement: A Two-Phase, Dual-Search Mandate

The work ran across two structured phases.

Phase 1: Pilot (May to August 2025)

  • Technical SEO audit and foundation fixes
  • Keyword cluster mapping across tax software hosting and managed IT verticals
  • Initial content production and on-page optimization
  • Establishing the reporting framework, including LLM prompt tracking from day one

Phase 2: Full Engagement (September 2025 Ongoing)

  • Scaled content production across priority clusters
  • Off-page authority building via targeted guest post placements
  • 40 to 60 ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Bing prompts tracked monthly
  • Monthly performance reporting covering traffic, rankings, and LLM visibility

The key distinction from a standard SEO retainer: AI visibility was not an add-on or a future phase. Tracking 40 to 60 prompts monthly across 4 AI platforms was a contractual deliverable. Most SEO agencies treat GEO as something they will get to eventually. At DerivateX, it was the brief.

The Work: Three Interlocking Workstreams

1. Content Strategy and Production

The approach was cluster-first, not keyword-first. Rather than chasing individual high-volume terms, the strategy was to build topical authority across the specific domains Verito competes in: tax software hosting, managed IT for accounting firms, cloud security and compliance, and software comparison content.

This matters because Google’s ranking systems, and increasingly LLM citation logic, reward demonstrated expertise across a topic rather than isolated pages targeting single keywords. Publishing comprehensive content covering QuickBooks hosting, Drake hosting, UltraTax hosting, ProSeries hosting, and Sage hosting tells both search engines and AI models that this site is the authoritative source in this space.

Content clusters built across the engagement:

  • Tax software hosting pages (QuickBooks, Drake, UltraTax, ProSeries, Sage, Lacerte)
  • Managed IT and cloud security content for CPA and accounting firms
  • Compliance-driven content including WISP, anti-phishing, and data security
  • Comparison and alternatives content targeting mid-funnel research queries
  • Troubleshooting and informational content capturing early-funnel accounting audiences

2. Off-Page Authority and Citation Engineering

26 guest posts placed across 20+ domains between June 2025 and March 2026.

The placement strategy was intentional across three dimensions, and this is where Citation Engineering differs from standard link building.

Traditional SEO goal: Domain authority and link equity from high-DR publications.

Placements: TechBullion (3), Digital Journal (2), The Enterprise World, Tech Funding News, technology.org, Payline Data, Business ABC

GEO goal โ€” LLM citation probability: Topical authority in the niche AND presence on sources LLMs are known to cite.

AI-native and niche placements: foundonai.com (3), aijourn.com, prolawguide.com, lawyerscorner.com, accountingbyte.com, firmsuggest.com, Coruzant, FangWallet, Selected Firms

One placement stood apart for a different reason. A full profile piece on Camren Majors as CMO of Verito was published on TechBullion. Building founder credibility as a citable entity serves both E-E-A-T signals and brand recall inside AI-generated answers. When ChatGPT is asked about QuickBooks hosting, it is not just pulling from product pages. It is building an understanding of who the people behind the company are.

3. LLM Visibility: Tracking and Optimizing for AI Search

GA4: ChatGPT as a session source, tracked across 292 landing pages.

From month one of Phase 2, DerivateX tracked 40 to 60 prompts monthly across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Bing โ€” measuring where Verito appeared in AI-generated answers, who was displacing them, and which content gaps were preventing citations.

The Results

AI Visibility: The Headline Story

This is what separates this engagement from a standard SEO case study.

By March 2026, Verito was ranking across 33 tracked ChatGPT prompts with the following distribution:

MetricResult
Position #112 prompts (36%)
Top 3 ranking24 prompts (73%)
Top 5 ranking28 prompts (85%)
Inbound ChatGPT sessions (GA4)887 sessions across 292 landing pages

When an accounting professional types “QuickBooks hosting providers” or “Best UltraTax CS hosting provider for a small tax firm” into ChatGPT, Verito is the first name that comes back. That is not a coincidence. That is the result of a deliberate strategy to build topical authority and place content on sources LLMs cite.

The 887 inbound sessions from ChatGPT tracked in GA4 confirm this is generating real traffic, not just rankings in a spreadsheet.

Key comparisons:

  • Monthly clicks: 971 baseline โ†’ 2,516 avg (Jan/Feb 2026) = 159% growth
  • Monthly impressions: 199,000 โ†’ 590,000 = 196% growth

  • February 2026 impressions alone: 674,000 (the highest single month on record for the site)

The compounding effect is visible in the data. January 2026 clicks (2,518) were nearly identical to February 2026 (2,514) despite February having 6 fewer days โ€” indicating the growth has stabilized at a new, significantly higher baseline rather than being a one-month spike.

Pipeline and Lead Generation

HubSpot data between October 2025 and January 2026 recorded 219 leads with 34 converting โ€” an overall conversion rate of 15.5%.

Google-sourced leads converted at 17.8%. Converted Google leads primarily landed on /managed-hosting-trial, /drake-tax-software-hosting, and the homepage โ€” directly reflecting the content clusters built during the engagement.

The Next Wave: Pages Still Climbing

Pages with massive impression volume are still in the process of moving toward page one. These represent the near-term traffic opportunity as authority continues to compound.

The Trapped Demand Now Converting

Those high-impression, low-position pages from the baseline are now actively climbing. The /drake-tax-software-hosting page moved from deep obscurity to position 10 with 494 clicks and 117,000 monthly impressions. The /veritspace-pricing page sits at position 6 with 521 clicks. The content built during this engagement is now doing the work of a full-time sales channel.

Clutch.co | Verified Review | September 10, 2025 | Rating: 5.0/5.0 Quality: 5.0 ยท Schedule: 5.0 ยท Cost: 5.0 ยท Willing to Refer: 5.0

“Six months in, we’re ranking for terms we couldn’t crack before. Communication is clear, turnaround is fast, and they don’t pad reports with fluff. Recommend them if you want a partner, not a vendor.”

โ€” Camren Majors, Owner at Verito

Why It Worked: The Strategic Logic

Principle 1: The Niche Was Treated as an Asset

The instinct to go broad and target high-volume terms from the start was resisted. Instead, the strategy built topical depth inside the specific world of accounting and tax firms first. That depth is what both Google and LLMs reward with authority.

When a site has comprehensive, high-quality content covering QuickBooks hosting, Drake hosting, UltraTax hosting, ProSeries hosting, Sage hosting, managed IT for accountants, WISP compliance, and cloud security for CPA firms, the topical authority signals stack. A site that knows everything about one specific thing outperforms a site that knows a little about everything.

Principle 2: Off-Page Was Engineered for Two Audiences

Every guest post placement was evaluated against two criteria: link equity for traditional search rankings AND citation probability for AI-generated answers. These are not always the same sites.

Publishing on AI-native platforms like foundonai.com and aijourn.com alongside niche-specific publications is not standard SEO practice. It is Citation Engineering โ€” deliberately placing content on the sources that LLMs pull from when generating answers about accounting software hosting.

The result: 12 ChatGPT #1 rankings and 887 GA4-tracked inbound sessions from ChatGPT. These are not lucky outcomes. They are the direct result of a strategy that treated AI as a traffic source with its own optimization logic.

Principle 3: AI Visibility Was Measured, Not Assumed

You cannot optimize what you do not track. From Phase 2, DerivateX tracked 40 to 60 prompts monthly across four AI platforms. That tracking surfaced which competitors were displacing Verito in specific answer contexts, which content gaps were preventing citations, and which prompt categories were underperforming.

Most agencies added GEO to their pitch decks in 2025. At DerivateX, it was in the contract scope with defined monthly tracking commitments. The 73% top-3 ChatGPT ranking rate across tracked prompts is what systematic measurement plus targeted execution produces.

What Comes Next

The engagement runs through June 2026. The compounding is still underway.

Pages with hundreds of thousands of monthly impressions sitting at positions 27 to 44 represent the next wave of organic traffic as domain authority continues to build. The /quickbooks-hosting page alone has 222,000 monthly impressions at position 28. Moving it to page one is a matter of authority compounding, not starting over.

On the AI side, Verito now shows up in the answer when an accountant asks ChatGPT who the best QuickBooks hosting provider is. That is the position most B2B companies in this space are still trying to understand how to reach.

Verito is already there.
